The Kamloops Exhibition Association's roots are in the Kamloops Agricultural
Association which was founded in 1895. The original mandate of this non profit
organization was to encourage, assist, and promote the welfare of the agricultural
industry and to provide facilities for the same. In 1931 the name was changed to
the Kamloops Exhibition Association with its stated purpose in line with its
original mandate. In 1971 the KXA launched the first race days at the Sagebrush
Downs, and today still operates the Sagebrush Downs race site, as
well as a variety of structures on the southeast side of the Mount Paul Centre.
