The roots of the Kamloops Exhibition Association are in the Kamloops Agricultural Association
which was founded in 1895. The original mandate of this non profit organization was to
encourage, assist and promote the welfare of the agricultural industry, and to provide
facilities for the same. In 1931 the name was changed to the Kamloops Exhibition Association
with its stated purpose in line with its original mandate. In 1971 the KXA launched the first
race days at the Sagebrush Downs.
Today the Kamloops Exhibition Association, KXA, operates the Sagebrush Downs race site as well
as a variety of structures on the north side of the Mount Paul Centre. In addition the KXA is
host to a range of events on the site.
A full roster of other events occur throughout the summer including: Team Roping, Barrel
Racing events, High School Rodeo and Little Britches rodeo events, the August Pro Rodeo, and
Provincial Winter Fair in September.
The grounds and buildings may be rented for numerous other events and activities. A few of
the many posibilties are: cattle shows, horse shows or events such as rodeo, barrel racing,
Hunter jumper shows, or English horse shows, sulky racing, or horse racing. Any type of
agricultural show or event, or even family events or outings such as weddings could be held
at this great facility.
